July 2019
'semi songs' is an interactive light installation commissioned by the Los Angeles-based musical artist Drum & Lace for her album premiere 'semi songs' in July 2019.  These lighting systems were a collaboration with technologist Alexia Riner (programming) and graphic designer Jeremiah Chiu (engraved design) who created created a graphic score for the 4 -song LP, then took a graphic representation of each song to engrave on each of the four light installations.
The four light installations were created for four dancers to interact with.  Each time a dancer touched one of the pieces, in changed to a different color corresponding with the album mood.
The physical installation is made from engraving on 1/4 inch arcylic, and the system receives signal from a vibration sensor to an Arduino Nano, processing that data and sending it to a neopixel LED strip.
